Another important key that you will need if you want to succeed in your life. You must have a clear goal in your life. If you’ve read until now, maybe you will think that this key is more important than other keys. But like I said, the order of which key comes first is not important. All these 12 Keys to Success are equally important; you will need them if you want to succeed in your life.

I know that many of you already knew about this key, you always heard successful people saying that you must a goal; you must set your goal, etc. Yes, indeed, without a goal, you cannot achieve anything. Now, if you’re reading this article, means that you’ve the interest to succeed in your life. The main reason you are here reading this article and read until this point is because you have the thought of wanting to be successful in your life. Therefore you see, everything happens for a reason, if you don’t have the thought or the goal, you will not do all these things, you won’t be reading this article by now. Only if you have a clear goal, your goals will lead you and tell you what to do.

Well, the goals you set must be clear. Let me gives you some examples here, of what a clear goal means. A clear goal is something that you can achieve, the more tangible, the better. If you have a goal like this “I want to be rich in two years”, it is not clear enough. Because you never state that how much is it that you want to make. For some people, rich means having $1 million, and for some people, having $10k is considered rich. So you must set clear goals for yourself, the clearer the goal you have, the easier it can be achieved.

Always Concentrate In Your Work (7)

You must be 100 percent concentrated in your business and your work. Focus in your goals until you achieve it. This is a key that you will need if you desire for success. For you, your business is the most important thing in your life. You don’t need to care what had happened to other businesses out there. It is your own business that is making you richer, not others. So always focus in your work.

You will feel the flow of energy if you concentrate in your company and in your products. Have you ever gone to any seminar before? And if you have, I’m sure the organizer will ask you to switch off your hand phone. Why? This is because they want you to 100 percent concentrate in the seminar. Only with 100% of work you will achieve great results.

Let me gives you a few more examples of concentrating in your work and your company. Have you ever seen any babies crying? When babies are hungry, they will cry. And they cry with 100 percent of their energy! Sometimes they even cry until their whole face turns red and without any voice coming out. So you see, we were born in such a way that we do things with 100 percent concentration. However, during the time we grow up, we’ve been influenced by the surrounding, we start to loosen ourselves. All the negative effects have been instill in our mind and influences our behaviors.

You Must Have A Plan (6)

Well, right, to succeed, you must have a plan. Make sure that you come out with a plan after finished reading this. Only when you have a plan, you will know where you are heading, and what you should do to achieve them. It is useless if you have great dreams and great goals, but you don’t have a plan which will lead you there.

 
What if you don’t have a plan? You will end up in other people’s plan. Yes, indeed, if you don’t have a plan, then you will end up becoming part of people’s plan. If you don’t have a plan, then it will be the same as you’ve arrived to a new city and don’t know where to head to. You will end up in nowhere. Having a plan is equally important as having a clear goal. A goal without a plan is just a dream.

Everything you do in your life must have a plan. Just like if you want to go to A from B, there are a lot of ways you can get there. You can take a plan, train, or by car. If you don’t have a plan, then maybe you will end up listening to your friend’s advice by taking a train to A. So you see, you will end up in other people’s plan. It is the same here if you want to make more money online. You can choose to make more money using eBay, affiliate marketing, or create your own products.

Have A Burning Desire (5)

Again, this is a very important key that is going to help you open the door to your success. Without this key, it is almost impossible for you to achieve success. In this world, who doesn’t want to be rich, who doesn’t want to be successful? Everyone wants success. If you meet a beggar, just ask him whether if he wants to be successful. I bet, he’ll say yes. But then he will always remain as a beggar, why? Because he doesn’t have the burning desire to be successful!

So what exactly does this burning desire mean? Burning desire is not the same as what you wish. Burning desire is not the same as what you want. Burning desire is something that it is a MUST for you. You cannot live without it. Just imagine, if you’re in a desert now, it’s so hot and you’re almost going to die because of thirsty. Suddenly you saw someone come by and he is holding a bottle of water. You straight away walk to him and ask for water. Now, what if that person doesn’t want to give you his water? You will kill him if he is not giving you the water. So this is the burning desire, it is a must for you.

Still not clear enough? Ok, let me give you another example. Assume that you don’t know how to swim. You go to a swimming pool and suddenly you fall into the pool. The pool is so deep and you will drown. The moment you are drowning, will you think like this? “Oh, I don’t know how to swim. If only I know to swim then I won’t be dead”. Honestly, what will you do? Struggle! Why? Because you want to live. It has become a burning desire for you to stay alive.

Many people want to be a Millionaire, but most of them won’t achieve it because it is not a must for them. If something is a must for you, you will do whatever it takes to get it. This is the burning desire that you need if you want to succeed in your life. Success never comes automatically; you will need to spend a lot of time and effort on it.

Here is a great story that I would like to share with you. Long ago, there is a King, and he wants to conquer an island. Therefore, the King orders a General to handle this mission. The King only gives the General 100 soldiers. And the enemy has got 1,000 soldiers guarding that island. So how is this general going to win this war? They are outnumbered.

This is a very great key. If you can take all the responsibility, then you won’t blame anyone. You must know that this is your life, and if you want to succeed, you will have to walk this road on your own. Don’t give any excuses and don’t blame anyone if you fail.

Have you ever heard of this word “if”? This is a very lousy excuse often given by many people. Let me gives you some example here. “If I have a car, then I can make more money”, “if only I have more time, then I will invest my money”. Frankly, did you ever hear all these excuses before? Are you using them often?

These words are so easy to use, but don’t use them, they will not bring you what you want. Take all the responsibility, only then you can move to a higher level. Now, you must learn to make good use of this power of responsibility in your life. How? Very simple, take all the responsibility and keep on improving yourself.

Allow me to give you an example here. Like me, I’m a student (the moment I wrote this), and if I failed my exam, I can choose to either blame the lecturer for not teaching me properly and there is nothing I can do. Or I can blame myself and take all the responsibility, so that I can study harder for the next exam. Therefore you see, if you take the responsibility, you will have the power to improve yourself, you have the power to control the situation.

The moment you blame the whole world, you won’t have the power to change. You will lose the chances of improving yourself. If your boss is not giving you a raise in salary, you can blame yourself for not performing well enough. What if after you’ve delivered your hard work, still your boss is not giving you a raise? You can still take the responsibility that you’re not showing your hard work to your boss.

You must always be prepared to strive, anytime! This is what you need if you want to be successful. Did you know that every morning, in Africa, a deer must always be prepared to run! Why? Because if the deer is not prepared or run slower, it will become a lion’s breakfast. Did you know that every morning when a lion wakes up, it must be prepared to run? Why? Because if it is not prepared or run slower than the deer, it is not going to has any breakfast. So this is what is happening in the real world. You must always be prepared. If you’re not, you either ends up don’t have any breakfast and died of hunger, or become the breakfast of the lions. It may sound cruel, but this is the real world. Always be prepared to strive!

The more you struggle for life the more successful you will be. You know, right now, if you are in your 30s, it is great news because time is your most valuable asset. You can afford to fall (fail) and get up again, why? Because you are still young. You can fall for 29 times and still manage to wake up for the 30th time. When you are at the age of 25, and if you still don’t want to strive for success, then when are you going to pursue for your success? At the age of 55? Therefore, don’t wait, always pursue and strive for the better for your future.

In our life, we have only one season. During spring, it is the moment when we are still young; we are at the age of 20s. It is the best if we get ready and prepare for our future. Then summer will come. This is a very hot season, you will be in the age of around 30, and you must work harder and put in more effort. This is the best time for you to strive for your future and success.

Once you miss this opportunity, autumn will arrive; you will be in your 40s. You will start feeling cold and lazy to move. If you miss out all these 3 seasons, you will eventually come to winter. It is very cold in winter and you are at the age of 50s. Do you think that you will still want to strive for success at this age? Honestly, I don’t think so. Hence, you must always be prepared to strive whenever you can. Don’t wait because time waits for no one!

So if they cannot control their emotions, all their members will leave them eventually.

More than 2 billion “finger lickin’ good” chicken dinners are served every year in over 80 countries around the world. It all began when an entrepreneur in his sixties, living on social security, had faith in his idea. Born 9 September 1890, Harland Sanders learned how to cook when he was six. His father had just died, his mother was forced to work, and it fell to Harland to put meals on the table. He started working at 12, first on a farm, then as a streetcar conductor, a 16 year-old soldier in Cuba, and a railroad fireman. He studied law by correspondence, sold insurance and tyres, operated an Ohio River steamboat ferry, and ran gas stations.

When he was 40, Sanders began cooking for hungry travelers at his gas station in Corbin, Kentucky, serving their meals at the dining table in his own living quarters. Soon people came just for the food and he opened a 142-seat restaurant across the road. Over the nine years, he perfected his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices and the basic cooking technique that is still used today. His fame grew. He was made a Kentucky Colonel in 1935 for his contribution to the State’s cuisine. But when a new interstate highway bypassed Corbin in the early 1950s, Colonel Sanders was forced to sell up. After paying off his depts, he was reduced to living on his $105 social security cheques.

But the Colonel had a vision: confident of his fried chicken formula, he started franchising his recipe in 1952. The 65 year-old drove across America, cooking batches of chicken for restaurant owners. If they liked what they tasted, he did a handshake agreement that he would be paid a nickel for each chicken they cooked and sold. By 1964 the sprightly Colonel had more than 600 franchised outlets in the US and Canada, and sold his interest for $2 million to a group of investors. He stayed on as public spokesman and by 1976 he was ranked the world’s second most recognizable celebrity.

This is a very crucial key for you if you want to succeed. No matter in your career or in your life, success will never come automatically. You must never give up if you desire for success. Allow me to give you an example here. If you took a hammer, and hit the wall inside a house. What will happen? Nothing will happen, what you will get is just a loud “bang!” But what if you keep on hitting and hitting the very same wall? It is just like what Bill Gates says, ‘life is not easy and it is unfair’. You cannot choose which country you want to be born in and you cannot choose what family you want to be in as well. What you can do if you are the less fortunate one is to tough it out. Although that life can be hard and unfair, we all are presented with the same opportunity to succeed in life.

You can live the kind of life you want and be successful no matter who you are, even if you are uneducated or handicapped. If you are poor today, it is great news because most rich people were once poor in their lives and that is what makes them to achieve more in their lives. If you are uneducated or a college dropout, it does not really matter because there are a lot of successful people out there who are the same with you. If you are handicapped, you can still use your potential to make a difference in life, just like Nick Vujicic.

So accept that life is not easy and you have to sweat to climb before you reach to the top. The most important lesson for you to learn here is that everyone of us are presented with the same opportunity to be successful in life.

Today, I’m going to share a very inspiring story with you. I believe that this real-life story can motivates you and inspires you to take even more actions in your life. After I read this story, I felt that I’m not using my full potential in life, and I’m so motivated after reading it.

Have you ever heard of this woman, maybe you have but you didn’t know of her background. This woman was born to an unwed 13 year old mother. Alright, with no father, because her mother was raped and she was the result of the rape. Now if you think of a woman like that would you think that she would have a bright future? Probably not.

So when she was born she was abandoned by her mother. She had no family and she was adopted. But to her misfortune when she was adopted the people who adopted her were irresponsible, were very cruel, they sexually and physically abused her over a period of 15 years. She was forced to take drugs, she was sent to a juvenile home for delinquency.

She went in and out of rehabilitation for cocaine abuse. She was forced to steal. But the sad and ironic thing is this. At 13 year old herself, she was also raped. She got pregnant and she gave birth to a still born child. Now as I told you the story of this woman, would you feel sorry for her? A lot of us would. And let’s say today this woman is a complete wreck, totally depressed, on drugs, would you blame her? A lot of people won’t blame her, they will say it’s not her fault it is the environment.

But what if I tell you what happened to this woman today, she is one of the most successful respected and wealthiest women in the world today. Oprah Winfrey. Have you ever heard of Oprah Winfrey. How many of you have watched her show Oprah Prime Time? Is it inspiring? And on the show she talks about things that inspire people. She talks about social issues; she interviews celebrities like Bill Clinton, Tom Cruise etc.

How To Motivate Yourself

What drives you? What gives you the energy to keep moving on?

Do you know why sometimes you’re motivated to do something while sometimes you just want to put things off?

What you have to do is to notice your states, the thought you run through your mind, your breathing pattern and your physiology when you’re in a motivated state.

Once you noticed all these factors, you will come to better understand what drives you. And if you know what drives you, you can then repeat the same process and keep yourself motivated all the time whenever you want to.

Conversely, you can take note about the factors when you’re in a lousy state. What thoughts you’re running through your head when you’re feeling unmotivated? For most people, when they’re in a lousy state and when they’re trying to put things off, they will focus on the pleasure of not doing the things and the pain of doing it.

Let me give you an example, when you’re feeling motivated, most probably you’ll be thinking about being successful in your life. You’ll think about driving the car you have always dreamed about. You’ll be thinking about having all the money that you desire and traveling around the world with your loved ones.

Your breathing will be deep and your physiology is in a certain position. This means that you are focusing on the pleasure of achieving your dreams. You’re thinking about what you want to accomplish in your life.

Therefore, if you know that you have to focus in these thoughts to be in a motivated state, do you think that you can control your thought and make yourself motivated when needed?

There was a time in my life, not too long ago, that I was terrified of what my future would hold. It was the early 90s. I had just closed the doors on a business I had started and worked so hard to make successful. I tried everything imaginable to keep things going. I used every available credit card to pay my bills and took every cash advance that I could, thinking if I just held on long enough, things would eventually work out.

When it was all said and done, I was left with no source of income, over $50,000 in credit-card debt, and a negative balance in my checking account. I had collection agencies calling me all hours of the day. So much so, in fact, I changed my phone number three times! I was afraid to go to the mailbox or answer the door, for fear of what would come next. I took my son to a Little League game one night and came home to find out that my car had been repossessed. When you don't have money, it feels like the most important thing in the world. It controls your life. Not having money can destroy people and families. It breaks up marriages, forces people into desperate situations, where they make really bad decisions — for some it even takes their life. Money IS important. Money is what allows us to provide for our children, to live in a safe and secure environment, and to meet the needs of our family. Is money the most important thing in life? Of course not, but you MUST have money to live — and without it, you're doomed to a life of quiet desperation.

Don’t Complain, and Read This

What if I say, if you are born without your arms and legs, what will you do? Well, for many people, if they were born without arms and legs, I’m sure they will blame the ‘event’ for making them this way. They will blame the god, they will blame their parents, and they will blame everything in the universe except themselves.

Now you see, success is not about all the events that are happening in your surrounding, it is the response that you gave to those events that is going to determine your success. For example, if you fail in your business, and you blame (response) the economy (event) for being down the moment you run your business. Yes, many people will blame on events and circumstances like they are poor, they have no luck, and they don’t have the education and many sorts of excuses.

However, for successful people, these events happen to them as well, just that their response is different. In fact, most successful people face more obstacles than we do, but they choose to respond differently. They know that it is not the event that will affect their result; it is the way they choose to respond to these negative events.

Here is a very inspiring success story about a billionaire who became a very successful entrepreneur at a very young age. Just like every other success people, he started with almost nothing but the ideas in his head.

Michael Dell is a very committed guy, when he created a plan, he’ll pursue it with full strength. And this explains that how he made his $1,000 by just selling stamps at the age of 12! Can you imagine that? Selling stamps at such a young age and make $1,000 from that. Many of us can’t even save $1,000 from our salary. But he made his first $1,000 by just selling stamps.

He later sold the newspaper subscription for Houston Post, which developed his confidence making him even more money. It is told that he made enough money to buy a BMW by the age of 16. Most people can’t earn enough money to buy a BMW even with their entire life saving. But this guy, Michael Dell, made enough money to purchase a BMW at the age of 16.

Michael then planned his life well at the age of 19. He knew exactly what he wanted to achieve in his life and eventually, he achieved it. Knowing what you want in your life is one of the most important success strategies that you must adopt. If you don’t know what you want to achieve in your life, you’ll never achieve it. First set your target, then keep on pursuing it. Just like what Michael Dell did at the age of 19, he planned his life and set his goals to achieve higher success.

Michael later went to college to study biology as his parents want him to be a doctor. However, a year later, he quit his studies and continue to pursue his dreams. He wanted to be a successful entrepreneur. This is what you have to do as well if you know exactly what you want. You need to have the courage to pursue your dreams.

Michael developed his intense passion in computers when he was 15. When his parents got him an Apple computer when he was 15, instead of using it, he dissembled the computer into parts to find out how it worked. After that, he bought an IBM computer and studied more about assembling computers. Which he finally mastered the technique that made him a billionaire at a very young age (Millionaire Habit #7 – Be 100% committed).

In 1984, Michael started his dream venture with $1,000. He followed through his business plan and keep on working on it. In his room in the university, he assembled computers for customers according to their requirements and sell them directly to his customers.

His business idea was new because he assembled all the computers according to his customer’s preferences and sell directly at a low price. He was the first to introduce the direct sales method in the IT industry. The direct sales clicked and there was huge demand for computers. Dell knew that he could beat computer dealers by selling a lower price with good technical service (Millionaire Habit #1 – Always Exceed Expectations).

Just like every other successful people, Dell started small. Most of his orders were placed through friends and acquaintances who spread the word around. And by steadily developing his business, he moved to a small office and hired a few people to take orders and upgrade machines. Avoiding a third party to sell computers turned out to be profitable and the company grew at a seriously fast clip.

Later in May 1983, Dell incorporated the company as Dell Computer Corporation. In 1985, Dell started to design and make computers with components sourced from outside. His focus, right from the beginning, was on customers and good service. He kept his vision and move toward his dreams step-by-step.

All his hard work paid off handsomely. By 1992, Dell Computer Corporation entered the Fortune 500 list of the largest companies in the world. At the age of 27, he became the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company. And the rest is history.

Another one of the success strategies that Dell used is that the company was one of the very first to sell computers on the Internet. This too became a huge hit. In 1999, Dell launched Gigabuys.com, an online store featuring computer-related products.

Not only that, his business kept on growing and become the No. 1 player in the American market. Can you see it now? How Michael Dell started from $1,000 and built his giant IT business worth more than $100 billion. It has been a very successful journey for Dell.

In 1999, with his wife, he formed the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, which has an endowment of more than $1 billion and focuses on children’s issues.
